What is taught in CSD Maturation Classes?
Curricula are designed to be developmentally appropriate. Students are taught about physiological changes that occur in teen years as children transform into adults. Girls and boys will be taught separately.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Physical Education (PE) standards for Utah span grades 3 through 6. Our elementary schools work in collaboration with Playworks to provide physical education. Please contact your school for more information.
The goal of physical education provided in our elementary schools is to both provide structured physical activity and also to promote healthy social interaction and good sportsmanship.

- safety and injury prevention
- development of healthy relationships
- proper nutrition and fitness
- consumer and community health

- "Maturation education means instruction and materials used to provide fifth- or sixth-grade students with age appropriate, accurate information regarding the physical and emotional changes associated with puberty, to assist in protecting students from abuse and promote hygiene, and good health practices."
